Diagnosis (How do I get tested?)

Three simple steps to Sleep Apnea testing

1. Download a referral - click on the 'Get Help Now' tab
2. Ask your GP to complete your referral
3. Call the number on your referral or call (02) 9252 0266 for an appointment

Diagnosing sleep apnea is now easy and affordable. It can be done in the comfort of your own home. The test simply involves wearing a small mobile phone sized device around the torso and connecting small pain free sensors onto the skin. The device collects several signals such as your snoring rate, the oxygen levels in your blood, your brain waves and your heart rate.

The test is approved by Medicare and is Bulk Billed providing you are an adult, meet the sleep specialist’s qualifying criteria and have a signed referral from your doctor. A small booking fee may apply.

If you suspect that you are at risk of sleep apnea, or you have done the Sleep Quiz (Hyperlink) and it indicates that you are at risk, please follow the easy steps below to be tested for sleep apnea in the comfort of your own home.

  1. Click on this link (Find a local Sleep Consultant) and enter the postcode of where your General Practitioner (GP) practices. If you do not know your GP’s postcode, please enter the postcode of where you live.
  2. Download a referral form which will have the details of both your local Healthy Sleep Solutions sleep technician and the independent specialist sleep physician who will be assessing your test results.
  3. Make an appointment with your GP and discuss your sleep apnea concerns with them. If they agree, ask them to fill in and sign your referral form.
  4. Call the number on the bottom of the referral form and organise an appointment and venue to meet with your local Healthy Sleep Services sleep technician.
