Healthy Sleep Solutions is proud to work with what we consider to be best possible partners to ensure the most appropriate diagnosis, treatment and management options are available for our sleep apnea patients. These partners fall into the following areas:
In order to ensure compliance to the strict guidelines set out in the Medicare Benefits Schedule for home sleep study diagnostic procedures and investigations, Healthy Sleep solutions is gratified to work with Embla.
Embla is one of the largest companies in the world to focus solely on sleep diagnostics and offers a wide spectrum of innovative sleep diagnostic solutions including the Embletta® portable home sleep testing device. The Embletta® has provided an estimated half a million sleep studies and is recognized by sleep professionals worldwide.
Healthy Sleep Solutions is also pleased to be one of Embla’s largest customers globally.
A common and effective treatment for obstructive sleep apnea is the use of positive airway pressure therapy. These include Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) or Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (APAP) devices. These devices have evolved continuously since their discovery and are now small, quiet, affordable and reliable.
Equally as important as the devices, are the masks, humidifiers and accessories that help ensure comfort, ease of use and compliance, which is essential for the ongoing treatment and management of the condition
Healthy Sleep Solutions works with the global leaders and innovators in the CPAP & APAP. In alphabetical order these valued partners are as follows:
All of these suppliers provide devices which enable a download of information which helps Healthy Sleep Solutions and the patient manage the disease on an ongoing basis.
The fact that Healthy Sleep Solutions is independent and stocks a full range of products from all of these world class manufacturers means that we can optimise a customised sleep solution dependent on our individual patient’s condition and needs.
Our experience is that the more time we spend on customising a treatment solution to the individual patient, the better their long term compliance will be which in turn means that they will be treated more effectively and therefore live longer, healthier, happier and more productive lives.
Our lack of exclusive reliance on any single supplier also means that Healthy Sleep Solutions is also fully compliant with the positive airway pressure guidelines set out by the Australasian Sleep Association.
Healthy Sleep Solutions recognises that not all patients will need to go onto CPAP and APAP therapy and have therefore ensured that other treatment options are available.
Diet and/or Exercise - if you have mild OSA, the specialist sleep physician may recommend that diet and/or exercise alone will help reduce your symptoms. If this applies to you, Healthy Sleep Solutions will ensure that your referring doctor is aware of this. Most doctors have access to dieticians and exercise physiologists that they prefer using. However, if no such service is available in your area Healthy Sleep Solutions can also help secure appropriate advice from relevant professionals.
Oral Appliances - if you have mild to moderate OSA, the specialist sleep physician may recommend a Mandibular Advancement Split (MAS) which is a device worn in the mouth during sleep. A MAS works by advancing the lower jaw to maintain an open airway while sleeping. These are normally custom made to fit an individual patient to ensure maximum comfort and compliance. An MAS can also be a viable option for those few patients who do not tolerate CPAP or APAP therapy. Other oral appliance can be used to help prevent snoring or teeth grinding during sleep. Healthy Sleep Solutions has a burgeoning relationship with companies and dentists in this field and will work with your referring doctor to ensure that you receive the most appropriate treatment.
Other Sleep Disorders - from your home sleep test results the specialist sleep physician may discover that you do not have Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) but that you do potentially have another form of sleep disordered breathing (such as Central Sleep Apnea) or perhaps indications of another sleep disorder altogether. In this case the sleep physician will recommend that you visit a local sleep specialist for a consultation and review. It is part of Healthy Sleep Solution’s approach to try and work with local sleep physicians to look after our more complex patients and we will work with your referring doctor to ensure the proper follow-up occurs.
